Mythic Dungeons are being thrust into the competitive world of esports with the Mythic Dungeon Invitational. For most players, Mythics offer loot and keys used to unlock more challenging levels. Higher level Mythics offer greater chances for better loot, and some players just want their keys upgraded so they can climb as high as they possibly can on the Mythic ladder. In this tournament, however, there's a ton of money on the line.
The event will begin with the Proving Grounds, which will challenge these dungeon groups to raise their Keystone level as high as they can. Their performance will be evaluated across the five dungeons that the team achieves the highest Keystone Level in during those two weeks. This stage is open to all players across all realms. At the end of the two-week period, teams will submit their highest score here. Based on the scores from the Proving Ground period, the top 32 teams will be invited to playoffs; eight being chosen from each region the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and China.
Teams will then speedrun dungeons, with the faster team winning the match. All Keystones and affixes for the run will be determined by Blizzard at the beginning of each match. The playoffs will use a single elimination bracket, with the top two from each region advancing to the Global Finals, from September 30th through October 1st. The top five-man group in the world will earn $50,000 for their efforts, with 2nd through 8th splitting the remaining $50,000.
